Today we did some volunteer work in our community with a “Climate Connection”. We painted frog and fish symbols near storm drains to remind area residents that anything that gets washed down the drains goes directly into the water and effects the environment. We also distributed door hangers that explain the program and learned about frogs, fish and other species that are effected by our actions. It was really fun and we enjoyed painting. We all took turns sweeping the area to be painted, painting, and acting as the traffic lookout. (You can see “Honey” in the picture below calling out “car” when it was her turn to watch for traffic.)
It’s sad to think about how careless people can be sometime and all the problems we are causing not only to our environment and other living things, but to ourselves. I wonder when people will realize what they are doing and change? I wonder how I can help them see the connections sooner so that changes can be made sooner?
